Knowing the Right Time to Say Goodbye to a Pet

The euthanasia process takes approximately 15-20 mins, we allow 45-60 mins for the appointment but follow your lead to pace the process so you will not feel rushed or pressured. The first step is a subcutaneous injection of sedation. Once your pet is comfortably sleeping the next step is an anesthetic administered intravenously. Your pet’s heart and breathing will stop while they are sleeping.

Normally - Dr McCulloch's assessment is a confirmation that we are making the most humane choice for your pet. In the event that this is not the case - having medical history and getting a concise history of your pets CURRENT signs can help us decide the best course of action.

In most cases, we facilitate the transfer of your pet from your residence to our aftercare partners. The crematory we work with is Hamilton Pet Meadow: www.petmeadow.com. For Private cremation or acquamation your pet’s ashes will be returned within 2-3 weeks via UPS. You will receive advance notice of shipping and the tracking information. A signature will be required upon receipt of their ashes.

Appointments cancelled with 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time may be subject to a cancellation fee.

ie all cremation/injection, transport and shipping fees will be refunded and the consult fee will be withheld.

Regular business hours are 9am-5pm - Monday to Thursday, and 9-2pm - Friday. Weekend and after hours services can be accommodated on a case by case basis for an additional fee. Please see our areas served page for more information on available locations.
